Safety Supervisor Tasks – Maritime Container Handling & Warehousing
Primary Responsibilities:

Safety Compliance Oversight:
- Ensure adherence to all local and international maritime safety regulations.
- Monitor compliance with container stacking and handling protocols.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification:
- Conduct regular risk assessments for container shifting, cargo handling, and warehousing operations.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards within the container yard, warehouses, and inspection areas.

Safety Training & Awareness:
- Coordinate and deliver safety training programs focused on container handling equipment, lifting operations, forklift usage, and cargo management.
- Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks for operational teams.

Incident Investigation & Reporting:
- Investigate all incidents, near misses, and accidents related to container operations, cargo handling, and warehousing.
- Prepare detailed reports outlining causes, corrective actions, and prevention measures.

Customs Inspection Coordination:
- Ensure safety measures are adhered to during customs inspections, particularly involving hazardous materials, refrigerated containers, and chemical storage.
- Work closely with customs officials to maintain safe inspection processes.

Emergency Preparedness & Response:
- Develop and regularly update emergency response plans specific to maritime cargo, container yards, and warehouse storage, including chemical and cold storage.
- Conduct periodic drills and coordinate with emergency services.

Equipment Safety Management:
- Oversee regular inspections, maintenance, and safety checks of cranes, forklifts, reach stackers, straddle carriers, empty handlers, and other cargo handling equipment.

Safety Documentation & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and compliance audits.

Continuous Safety Improvement:
- Analyze safety data to recommend improvements in operational procedures and safety protocols.
- Implement and monitor corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Applicant Requirements:
- Candidates must possess relevant experience in maritime logistics, specifically container handling, warehousing, yard management, and customs inspection environments.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and standards applicable to maritime and logistics operations is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in handling safety management within a similar industry is required.
