Senior Construction Lawyer – Riyadh
We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially minded Senior Construction Lawyer to join our team in Riyadh. You will play a critical role in supporting the legal aspects of a landmark mixed-use development project that includes residential, commercial, hotel, school, and public realm components. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience advising on large-scale construction and development projects, particularly in the KSA and/or other parts of the Middle East.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on all legal matters related to the planning, design, construction, financing and delivery of the development project.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide range of construction-related agreements, including EPC, FIDIC, design & build, consultancy, project management, and sub-contractor agreements and/or oversee their drafting by external law firms.
- Support tendering and procurement processes and ensure compliance with local and international legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Liaise with external legal counsel, consultants, contractors, and government authorities.
- Liaise with Directors, senior employees and consultants across all business streams.
- Provide risk analysis and mitigation strategies across all stages of the project lifecycle
- Assist with dispute avoidance and resolution, including claims management, mediation, arbitration, or litigation support if needed.
- Monitor regulatory and statutory developments in KSA and advise on their impact to ongoing and planned projects
- Provide in-house legal training and support internal stakeholders on construction law and contract management best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified lawyer with at least 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience in construction law.
- Significant experience working on large-scale real estate or infrastructure projects, ideally with a developer, contractor, or international law firm.
- In-depth knowledge of FIDIC and other standard form construction contracts. Strong understanding of KSA or GCC construction law, regulations, and market practices (experience in KSA preferred but not essential).
- Experience of finance documentation an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
