The Deputy Project Manager supports the Project Manager in the day-to-day management and delivery of the Scope of Works on a major road infrastructure project (includes major bridge works). The role focuses on safe execution, effective site coordination, progress monitoring and reporting, and interface management with key stakeholders (Client, Supervision Consultant, Designer, authorities, utilities, and other contractors). The Deputy Project Manager contributes to achieving the project’s time, cost, quality, and HSE objectives, while developing project leadership capabilities under the guidance of the Project Manager.
Tasks and Duties
Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and controlling the execution of the bridges works (foundations, substructure, superstructure, deck works, bearings, expansion joints, parapets/barriers, approaches, and tie-ins).
Coordinate daily site activities and resources, ensuring work fronts are ready and constraints are removed (drawings, approvals, materials, access, permits, traffic management).
Lead weekly look-ahead planning and support short-term sequencing to protect key milestones and productivity targets.
Track progress and productivity, and prepare weekly/monthly reports, dashboards, and narrative updates for internal and external reporting.
Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to ensure timely approvals and delivery of long-lead items and critical materials.
Promote and enforce HSE requirements; support risk assessments, method statement reviews, and planning for high-risk activities (lifting operations, working at height, traffic interface, night works, formwork/falsework).
Support QA/QC implementation by ensuring ITPs, inspections, testing, and documentation are completed; assist in resolving NCRs and closing punch lists.
Support subcontractor management: coordination, performance monitoring, progress follow-up, and compliance with project requirements.
Manage interfaces with roads/earthworks, utilities diversions, temporary works, and authorities to ensure continuity of works and minimize disruption.
Participate in meetings with the Client/Consultant/Designer and ensure action items are followed up and closed.
Support the Project Manager and commercial team with change control inputs (site records, quantities, progress data, event tracking) to enable evaluation of variations or delays.
Guide and support engineers and site staff through structured communication, disciplined reporting, and on-the-job coaching.
Saudi National Only
Minimum 10 years of experience, mainly in civil/infrastructure projects.
Practical exposure to bridges/structures works is strongly preferred (bridge substructure/superstructure or similar heavy civil structures).
Experience leading site teams/work fronts (e.g., Senior Site Engineer, Section Engineer, Construction Engineer, Site Manager, Package Engineer).
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Master degree in relevant field is a plus
PMP is a plus
Skills & Competencies:
Strong coordination and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple work fronts and interfaces.
Good understanding of construction sequencing, method statements, and short-term planning principles (look-ahead planning).
Working knowledge of QA/QC processes (ITPs, inspections, testing, NCR follow-up) and document control discipline.
Strong HSE mindset and ability to escalate and stop unsafe work when required.
Effective communication skills with stakeholders (client/consultant/designer/subcontractors) and strong team leadership behaviors.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); reporting capability is required.
English (written and spoken) is required; Arabic is required/preferred for stakeholder coordination.
