SysCom Inc, a privately-owned small business established in 2011, is seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Specialist to join our team. We provide exceptional contracting and support services to the Federal Government, Department of Defence, and commercial clients. Our company specialises in federal and defence technical support, including engineering, information technology, and logistics services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving our IT infrastructure, ensuring our systems operate securely and efficiently to support our critical operations and client commitments.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
* Provide first and second-line technical support to on-site and remote employees, troubleshooting and resolving issues in a timely manner.
* Monitor and maintain the health and performance of all IT systems and network infrastructure.
* Manage user accounts and permissions across various platforms, including onboarding and offboarding procedures.
* Assist in the implementation and enforcement of IT security policies and procedures to protect company and client data.
* Perform regular system updates, patch management, and data backups to ensure system integrity.
* Document technical processes, create user guides, and maintain an inventory of all IT assets.
* Collaborate with the wider technical team to support new projects and technology deployments.
Qualifications and Skills
* Proven experience working as an IT Specialist, IT Technician, or in a similar technical support role.
* Strong knowledge of computer hardware, network systems, and a variety of software applications.
* Experience with Windows operating systems and server environments; familiarity with other operating systems is a plus.
* Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
* Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
* A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent professional experience will be considered.
* Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+) are highly desirable.
