Job Overview
Thebes USA, the U.S. office of the international advisory firm Thebes Consult, is seeking a meticulous and organised Bookkeeper to join our team. This is a full-time position based in our Los Angeles, California office. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently to ensure the financial health and compliance of our U.S. operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes.
- Record financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts and defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
- Maintain and balance the general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries.
- Process accounts payable and receivable in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct regular bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports.
- Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Support the preparation of tax returns and collaborate with external accountants as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven professional experience as a Bookkeeper or in a comparable accounting role.
- A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles is essential.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- A relevant qualification or certification in accounting or bookkeeping is highly desirable.
