We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly reliable Proofreader to review and refine written content before publication. The ideal candidate has an excellent command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and written style, along with a sharp eye for inconsistencies and errors.
As a Proofreader, you will work closely with writers, editors, content teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that all materials are accurate, clear, consistent, and professionally presented.
Key Responsibilities
Proofread and edit documents, articles, website content, marketing materials, reports, and other written content.
Identify and correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and typographical errors.
Check content for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and adherence to established style guidelines.
Verify names, dates, figures, facts, references, links, and other details when required.
Maintain consistency in terminology, capitalization, formatting, and tone.
Review revisions and ensure requested corrections have been properly implemented.
Collaborate with writers, editors, designers, and content managers to resolve issues and improve content quality.
Meet assigned deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Provide constructive feedback when wording or structure could be improved.
Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive or unpublished materials.
Requirements
Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Strong reading comprehension and written communication skills.
Ability to identify subtle errors and inconsistencies quickly.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and common proofreading/editing tools.
Ability to follow style guides and formatting requirements.
Previous proofreading, editing, writing, publishing, or content-related experience is preferred but not always required.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree or relevant training in English, Journalism, Communications, Publishing, or a related field.
Experience proofreading digital or print content.
Familiarity with AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, MLA, or other recognized style guides.
Experience using tools such as Grammarly, Microsoft Word Track Changes, Google Docs Suggesting mode, or similar platforms.
Experience in working remotely.
